Wigglyturf Wars: A Game Of Gangster Pokemon And A Blind Hatred For Goldeen

Posted by: Jason Silverain / Category: , , ,

Sometimes when looking at custom games and settings you come across something special, a simple system with an amazing concept that is easy to pick up and hard to put down, a game that you intend to play as a one off but keep play it for years afterwards.

Wigglyturf Wars is not one of those games.
By all means it is not bad and certainly no FATAL thank Arceus, Wigglyturf Wars falls into a certain niche of game which I enjoy the concept for but for one reason or another I could not recommend to a casual or inexperience player.

Created by two room mates known only as Jand and Frenchie Wigglyturf Wars was released into the public on 07 Jan 2015 by Jand.
The rules come in two parts, a spreadsheet and a word doc, both of which are linked below:
Doc: Link, Alternative Link
Spread Sheet: Link, Alternative Link

In the world of WTW, humans are non-existent; you play as a Pokemon and is set in Marina City, an industrial metropolis ruled by Pokemon. A number of factions control different areas, from the docks controlled by the psychopathic Golduck Vasili, to the business district run by the sinister Yakooza.
The story of Marina City is thus: for as long as the oldest Aerodactyl can remember, Marina City has been under the thumb of ruthless gangsters. Two years ago, the Persian, the sinister Crime Lord of Marina City, was assassinated by persons unknown, creating a power vacuum which was filled by several aspiring gang leaders.

The players must decide which of the 3 factions they will ally with or if they will aid the police in cleaning up Marina City.

A rather unusual and amusing setting which in all honest seems to have been created just for the Pokemon name puns, though I am a fan of police drama of film noir as settings go and I was tempted to treated it as a Pokemon themed Zootopia.
However the rules are very maths heavy and rely on having access to the pokemons base stats from the games and thus character creation and levelling is by no means simple, in addition by using this method a lot of the statistical unbalance between certain Pokemon has been transferred over to the tabletop making some Pokemon naturally weaker than others and unable to catch up.

The move system is intriguing but ultimately limiting with little freedom in move variation between Pokemon of the same type, though it can be argued that this is a common problem in RPGs that characters of the same class have little variation (though this is becoming less of a case in recent years).

The majority of the rule set after character creation is focused on the combat and in a nutshell it isn't a easy read for example:

Attacking: The success or failure of an attack is based on the following formulae:
If using a Physical Attack:
((Attacker’s Attack Stat)*5 + d100 + SEB) – ((Defender’s Defence Stat)*5 + d100 + RB)
Or, if using a Special Attack:
((Attacker’s Sp. Attack Stat)*5 + d100 + SEB) – ((Defender’s Sp. Defence Stat)*5 + d100 +RB)
You can imagine how off putting this presentation can be to someone attempting to learn the rules and then take into account the large amount of additional effects most moves have it can become easy to see why the game requires a spread sheet.
This focus required on the combat rules has also come at another cost, a lack of adventure ideas or suggestions on how a budding gm would structure a campaign for the players to take over the city.

So with time consuming set-up, awkward maths and little in the way of guiding a new player or gm into building an adventure Wigglyturf Wars sadly will not see much play by other groups. However the concept is amusing and has possibilities and could perhaps find itself used in existing systems.
I would certainly like to see it taken and built upon in the future in whatever form it takes.

Update: New KAMB adventure coming and Youtube Channel updates

Posted by: Jason Silverain / Category: , , , , ,

Greetings and Salutations.

First of all I wish to apologise to the slow update this month, the events of the last few weeks have been hectic for myself and its left me with little time to get into the mindset to really sit down properly.

However in more positive news I've almost completed another short Kobolds Ate My Baby Adventure which should be posted later this month, also with the complete slow down of news and progress on Chapter Master I'll be trying to take a look at a 22 year old unreleased game by DerrickMoore from 12bayforums:

Here is a game from 1994 I'm accidently releasing because I no longer have a computer that can run this un-released game.

It's the story of a half-company of Dark Angels sent to kill the heretic Nokar, a traitorous Imperial Commander.

I really want some screenshots of the game, since I have no art from this game at all in my portfolio and it's one of the most important (to me) games I've ever made. (this game is 22 years old, and I beleave that I have the only copy and that if I dont get some screenshots, this art and story will be lost forever.)

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rk0r2348g1i873x/AABOUA59pV99TCxUOVC5Dgxda?dl=0

so? can anyone run this, and get me some screenshots? anyone with the patience to, will be rewarded with the awesome full motion video Space Marine movie that plays in between levels.

there are 5 levels, Space-Orks, then Cultists, then Tyranids.... The graphics, well, think 1990s, 640x480 and only 256 colors in the whole game

Meanwhile  I've also been updating the Youtube Channel regularly and have several Lets Play series complete including:

Finally due to Youtubes own growing problems I have been creating a back up of my shorter videos over at Daily Motion.

Guest Post: Top Ten Pokemon Cards That will give you the Chills When You See Them Played!

Posted by: Jason Silverain / Category: , , ,

Many thanks goes out to to the lovely lady from over at Buzy Bobbins for this guest post. -Silverain

Hello Everyone,
Today I will be sharing my top ten list of Pokemon cards that will give you the chills when you see them played available in Pokemon trading cards online.
Some of these cards are unsettling because of the pictures but most are chosen because of their in game usage. Without further ado lets get ready to quake in fear at a few of these cards.

My first choice on this list is a humble Pokemon tool but do not underestimate the power of this card! Lets take a look at the text on this card:

If this card is attached to 1 of your Pokémon, discard it at the end of your opponent's turn. If the Pokémon this card is attached to is your Active Pokémon and is damaged by an opponent's attack (even if that Pokémon is Knocked Out), put 6 damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon.

So if the Pokemon who using this tool is attacked the attacking Pokemon gets 60 damage, this is not an amount of damage to be sniffed at. It leaves your opponent with the hard choice of dealing their own damage at the cost of this hefty amount of damage. In many cases its just not worth it since 60 damage can seriously hinder most lower power Pokemon cards.

Most times I have had this card played against me or I have played this against others the attacker has chosen for forfeit their turn. This card is nothing but a win – win situation for the one who used it, you either get a free turn or deal a chunk of damage for free!

This card cannot be higher on this list than slot 10 however since it only provides protection for one round and is discarded after one use.

So why is a Stadium so scary I hear you cry! Lets look at the text of this amazing card.

Once during each player's turn, that player may heal 30 damage from each of his or her water Pokémon and Electric Pokémon.

Basically this means that a player with a water and electric deck can heal damage from all of their Pokemon every single turn. 30 damage is also nothing to be sniffed at and can have many first and second stage Pokemon swiping fruitlessly as most or all of their damage is being healed every turn. Making a battle into a hopeless slogfest. Every time I see this Stadium card come out on to the field I rush to get my own stadium out or use a Pokeball to bring out a Pokemon with Stadium removing ability, its a moment of panic which no other card gives me.

If that is not enough lets take a moment to consider the implications of this card. The Stadium is to represent the environment the battle is taking place. The changeable environments remind me of a Pokemon gym with special obstacles in favour of the leaders favourite Pokemon type. Imagine if you were a trainer in the middle of this terrible looking sea! Lets hope you have taught surf to a strong Garados rather than getting washed away on the back of a Polliwag!

Trevenant is not the friendliest of Pokemon but this picture is one of pure menace! I'm sure whatever is on the receiving end of this attack is going to be having nightmares for a long while to come.

However to top it off is actually the combination of ability and attack power. Lets take a closer look if we dare!

Ability: Nervous Seed

As long as this Pokémon is your Active Pokémon, the attacks of your opponent's Basic Pokémon cost 1 Colourless energy] more.

Attack: Energy press 70+

This attack does 10 more damage for each Energy attached to your opponent's Active Pokémon.

This combination leads to your opponent having to put more energy cards on each Pokemon to attack. However as they do so Trevenant deals more and more damage, it is is if the opponent is sealing their own doom!

This is a brilliant Pokemon tool card. It gives your Pokemon an extra 40 HP which is certainly enough to make a difference between fainting and getting one more attack in many cases. Not only that it makes the attacks of the Pokemon deal 10 more damage, it's not as good as a muscle belt in this regard but I really can't complain as I'd definitely use this primarily for the HP boost.
Since this card can be used for basic Pokemon only, at first makes this card seems a little more manageable.
However the scary thing about this is that already powerful Pokemon EX cards count as basic and the text on this one has not ruled out its use with them. While this card provides a welcome boost to ordinary basic Pokemon cards it has the potential to give a devastating edge to an already fearsome foe.

I really hope I don't see this combo on an opponent, Pokemon EX cards ordinarily have very high HP compared to their normal counterparts. This is just going to make them even more difficult to take down.

This amazingly drawn card looks like it is ready to jump out of the frame and into battle, not only that, its ability allows it to do just that. Lets take a look at it in detail shall we:

Ability: Bust In

When you play this Pokémon from your hand onto your Bench, you may move any number of basic Energy attached to your Pokémon to this Pokémon. If you do, switch this Pokémon with your Active Pokémon.

This means that Dragonite can be ready to start dealing damage as soon as it is on the field as long as the energy is already out. This has the potential to be a surprise attack which could very well turn the tide of battle from out of nowhere as soon as it is drawn.

At first glance this looks like a fairly standard card until we take a look at its ability.

Ability – Water Shuriken
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may discard a [Water] Energy card from your hand.If you do, put 3 damage counters on 1 of your opponent's Pokémon.

I have seen this in several online games and every time it appears it is devastating to my deck. From the safety of the bench this card can keep providing extra damage, if there is two Grenninja on the bench both cards can activate the ability. The only downside is that it uses extra energy per turn but with a few Fisherman or energy retrieval cards in the deck this card can keep causing damage while safely out of harms way.

This card is even scarier when paired up with the Rough Seas stadium or a card which prevents damage to Pokemon on the bench as it becomes almost unstoppable.

Oh Hai so I heard you like poison so I put poison in your poison so you can be poisoned while you are poisoned!

Just take a look at this cards first attack:

Triple Poison
Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Poisoned. Put 3 damage counters instead of 1 on that Pokémon between turns.

For only two energy cards this Toxicroak can no only poison but poison that deals 30 HP damage in between each round. Just say goodbye to all of your first stage pokemon and hope you draw a full heal to keep that poison at bay! I have used this card in a deck and to be honest if it comes out first it wipes through enemies like butter … hot poisoned butter!

Not only that, for one extra energy it can deal 80 damage and you can't even rely on resistance to save you!

Smash Uppercut 80
This attack's damage isn't affected by Resistance.

Since its an EX card the only saving grace is that you receive two energy cards upon defeating it… If you defeat it!

From the picture alone this Pokemon is scary. That's a face your really don't want to encounter on a dark night... Or at all in fact. However the true kicker is its attacks while it does not deal a huge amount of damage the fact that it can slowly chip away Pokemon on the bench can lead to opponents having a problem setting up their evolutions in any state to fight.
In addition its second attack not only has a chilling name of creep show has a chance to automatically knock out any Pokemon no matter how powerful as long as it already has three damage counters on it already. This could be a disaster for anyone relying on a single card to get them out of this jam.

Here’s the devastating set of attacks in full:
Sinister Fog
Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Poisoned. Put 1 damage counter on each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon.

Creep Show

If your opponent's Active Pokémon has 3 or more damage counters on it, that Pokémon is Knocked Out.

The only saving grace for the opponents of this card is that it is a stage 2 and it can be a few turns of set up before your opponent can pull this out and a couple more turns for sinister fog to take effect. But tell me… are you ready…. Can you ever be ready?

As you can see from the following Bulbapedia article this card is so scary it got banned in official tournaments:

Lets take a look at this card:
Your opponent's Active Pokémon is now Poisoned. Flip a coin. If heads, your opponent's Active Pokémon is also Asleep.

This trainer card means that your Pokemon does not even need to know any status effect moves since once it is drawn an instant poison can be added with a chance of poison.
This card is so scary since there is no warning, at least with a poisoning Pokemon it can be found on the bench or build up to as an active Pokemon. This card is so unexpected it cannot be prepared for which is why it is so scary.

Hypno is very common on lists of scary or creepy Pokemon due to the many Pokedex entries which let us know that one of the common habits of a Hypno is to kidnap children and eat dreams! So it is not surprising a hypno card brings has a picture which frankly gives me the chills.

Firstly lets take a look at this cards ability
Goodnight, Babies
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may leave both Active Pokémon Asleep.
This is an obvious reference to the kidnap of children since it is sending the 'Babies' to sleep. However it seems in this picture it is joining them in the dream world leading them down the dark road to nightmares rather than the happy world of sunshine and rainbows on the other side.
Even that Clefairy in the background looks horrified by the unfolding events!

If that is not enough on the Clefairy from BREAKpoint seems to have the aftermath of this event

I'll let you figure out what fate will befall this poor cute Pokemon.

Fan made project Pokémon: Uranium version 1 is released!

Posted by: Jason Silverain / Category: , , , , , ,

Over the last decade there have been numerous attempts at fan made Pokémon games, many of these titles have never been completed with either the project simply losing steam and interest or have been shut down by Nintendo themselves.
With that said as of August 6, 2016 Pokémon: Uranium has left beta and has officially joined the small list of completed fan games.

Developed by “~JV~” and "Nageki, a.k.a Involuntary Twitch"  Pokémon Uranium Version is made using the popular RPGmaker XP tool and is free to play without requiring any emulators however at this time it is only available for PC and be downloaded Here.

Taking its format from the original franchise, the goal is to explore the new region of Tandor and collect all 8 Gym Badges to participate in the Tandor Regional Championship, which is the equivalent of the original franchise Elite Four. In addition as you travel the region the games blurb hints that you will find yourself exploring the mystery behind the reactor disaster ten years prior to the events of the game and why now there are reports of feral Pokémon attacking everyone they encounter.

" The Hero, a teenager who grew up in Moki Town, begins their adventure reluctantly. After their mother Lucille diappeared ten years ago in a nuclear catastrophe, their father Kellyn, the top Pokemon Ranger in the Tandor Ranger Unit, left them to grow up with their elderly Auntie in Moki Town. Now that they are grown up, they leave home and do what so many young people do and take up Pokémon Training as an occupation.

Professor Bamb’o, regional expert on Pokémon elements, has been looking for a trainer assistant to travel the region and gather specimens of the varied wildlife. the main character volunteers, along with their rival, a younger boy named Theo. After taking a test and receiving their starter Pokémon, they head towards your first gym challenge in Nowtoch city, and take their first steps exploring the Tandor region.

Things aren’t as sunny as they first seem, though. Just when the accident ten years ago had been all but forgotten, new mysteries emerge. A new power plant is built over the site of the old one. Kellyn begins acting strangely, journeying to the far reaches of the region and questioning whether your mother is really deceased. Sinister Pokemon, corrupted by nuclear radiation, threaten innocent people. In the midst of the turmoil, it seems that an impending disaster is looming over Tandor…"

While Tandor only has 150 different species of Pokémon listed in its Pokedex many of these are new and exclusive to the game with the inclusion of the new Nuclear Type and a few examples can be seen in the image below:

While some of my own favourites such as Cubone and Mawile aren't present in the region the unique combinations and designs of some of these Pokémon would not be out of place in a official Nintendo title, in particular the new three starter Pokémon introduced: Orchynx (Grass/Steel), Raptorch (Fire/Ground) and Eletux (Water/Electric) are the biggest changes to the regular format with each only having a single Evolution and a Mega Evolution rather than the standard 2 Evolutions.

Pokemon Uranium also has a huge amount to custom features:
  • Pokemon Trainer Test: This allows the player to take a test to determine their starter Pokémon  rather than selecting them.
  • Nuclear Type: A new Pokémon type.
  • New Moves and Abilities
  • PokePod: This fulfils the role of the phone from the earlier games and allows you to arrange battles with certain trainers.
  • Pokemon Speech Translator (device used to communicate with Pokemon)
  • Sidequests:
  • Nuzlocke Mode (new difficulty)
  • GTS, Wonder Trade & Virtual Trainer
  • Mega Evolution
Interested and want to learn more?
Visit the Pokemon Uranium Website, Tumblr or the Pokemon Uranium Wiki
Finally I have an alternative mirror to the Version 1 of the game Here.

TowerGirls: A Choose Your Own Adventure By /tg/ Who will you Save?

Posted by: Jason Silverain / Category: , , , , , , , , , , ,

You may remember last month I mentioned a new project that Duke was working upon named TowerGirls: Subtitle Pending, which is a mix of JRPG and Grand Strategy video game.
Now Dukes rendition is not the first or only version of Towergirls and in fact its main iteration is a Choose Your Own Adventure forum game created and still updated by /tg/ over at 4chan and like Chapter Master can be considered one of the more successful projects of /tg/.

Now before I continue be please note that since I am talking about 4chan and similar communities this post will have strong language and sexual references, if this offends you read no further.

Towergirls initial development had several inspirations and actually originated over at /v/ (video games) in a 2014 thread featuring a comic meme of a knight bursting through a door with the text "Princess, I've come for you!"

The meme that helped start it all and its later alternative gender swapped version

Though the creator of the meme is unknown, this meme is still quite popular with the responses ranging from the cute:

The Strange:

And the outright hilarious:

This is where accounts grow a little hazy on what happened next, some sources state that a comic based on the meme created by the artist "Guoh" (see below) in which a knight accidentally rescues a kobold princess was posted shortly before an anonymous user asked other users which of four princesses they would save: a kobold princess, an insect princess, a human princess, or a skeleton princess. Other sources claim it happened the another way around but as the thread has been lost due to damage to the archive its anyone's guess.

Guoh's comic:

The First TowerGirls Page Illustrated by Gats: (Click image for original size)

From this starting point the artist for the first three major iterations of the TowerGirls CYOA (not including 'fan characters', edits, etc.) is "Gats" known for his work in the adult flash game Corruption Of Champions (and is now doing art in Dukes TowerGirls game).
These iterations include 2 Safe For Work Versions and 3 "Lewd" versions of the CYOA and has since has shown no interest in making further iterations though he still creates fan art on occasion and has stated Golem princess is the best princess under his own personal preference.

The Expanded TowerGirls Page Illustrated by Gats and edited by unknown artist: (Click image for original size)

"Gats" has also been seen as the original Lorekeeper for TowerGirls in the community although he has stated repeatedly that the chart and perks are more suggestion than canon and can be interpreted any way you see fit.

This freedom has allowed the TowerGirls community to continue to develop further charts and variations even though several of the original contributors have since moved on to other projects, the community tends to respect the wishes of any contributors but the project itself seems to be under new management that wasn't there originally, for lack of a better expression and many choices are done on a community consensus.

The general rules of the CYOA differer slightly between generations and iterations of the game (and are explained on each sheet) but in general the player takes on the role of a knight, who much save a princess/prince/companion of his choice.
Each princess comes with a number of advantages and disadvantages, as well as rankings for Love, Lust, Wealth, and Power. Princesses typically come with some other form of benefit in the form of dowries, which give miscellaneous boosts, or Idols and Companions. “Lewd” versions of the game features the princesses’ different fetishes and items which give sexual advantages.
Many in earlier incarnations have an army option, although this comes as both an advantage and a disadvantage at times (for example Ant Princess is very poor but has a very large army but they are loyal to her instead of you, or Fish Princess whose army cannot fight on land) although later versions dropped this.

While /tg/ is its traditional home the game has far-reaching popularity due to its ever increasing cast and variations, with boards like /co/ and /vg/ adding related Princesses (like Krogan Princess, or McDuck Princess) to their charts. Tumblr has also developed a Towergirls community of artists.

Furthermore notable projects include a Tumblr user called Bupi” began a project to craft a figurine of each princess, while a user called “FicFicPonyFic” created alternate costume variants.
In addition to Dukes Non Lewd TowerGirls video game there is a older project named Towergirls: Kingdom Conquest produced by a user known only as "Towerfag". An RPG Maker game using the Towergirls concept, this focuses upon the lewd version  including adult artworks made from professional artists under commission. While the game has a Patron page the author has said the game will be free and the funding is basically for music and art commissions.

Other spin off include an attempt to make a basic d6 System for roleplaying alongside a Master List of knights to select or roll randomly a character from:  (Click image for original size)

Various forum post games though the largest I've seen is: (Click image for original size)

Finally in these last 2 weeks I found myself charmed by the game and took some time to create some of my own fan characters:

Inn Knight: Based on one of my old roleplay characters he admittedly requires a bit more work to be ready.

A whole sheet of bonus Pokemon themed boss characters, I had a bit of fun making a double pun with Garys name as Ser Gareth was an Arthurian knight and I wanted to move the characters to a more fantasy style.
The entire boss sheet can be downloaded here.

Finally I created my own Princess Invisible Princess however as she was for the various lewd editions of the game there is no preview but you can download her here.

I've personally found the community very open and welcoming in the last 2 weeks and in fact when asking the community if there was any particular skill sets they were searching for or etiquette to be aware of I received this reply.

>Skills you are looking for
Pretty much anything, art, music, ideas guys, people who like to chat, whatever. We like having plenty of people around.
>Etiquette
Keep an open mind, we may be waifufags, but we should still be courteous about ideas.

So to wrap things up if you decide to try your hand at creating your own characters or want to learn more the following links should help you.

Simbrix: A curious hybrid of Lego, Jigsaws and Hama Beads

Posted by: Jason Silverain / Category: , , , , ,

Having the fortune to head down to the Gamecity events in Nottingham with the lovely lady of Buzy Bobbins we found ourselves surprised by just how packed the lobby for the National Video Games Gallery was that day, one of the main culprits was this little stall run by Assim Ishaque the founder and inventor of Simbrix.

My first sight of Simbrix

Now I must confess that at first glance through the crowd of children I mistook them for Hama beads but over hearing some parents talking to who I now know to be Mr Ishaque caught my attention, these were not bored parents waiting at the stall they were joining in and having just as much fun often enquiring about the stall.
My interest peaked I squeeze through the crowd to examine the table to suddenly find myself offered a fist full of the Simbrix to keep by Mr Ishaque, respectfully declining (my pockets already rather full at the time) I did manage to have a rather improvised interview with Mr Ishaque while examining the Simbrix.

You can tell that the chaps at the National Video Games Gallery got their hands on these right away.

It seems that Mr Ishaque got the initial idea for Simbrix when his daughter became very fond of Hama beads, the Hama beads often got lost or patterns scattered at a slight knock and often his children got bored of old projects which had been ironed and needed to purchase more beads for new ones.
Wishing that the beads were reusable and easier to use in general Mr Ishaque began designing his own which after 400 prototype designs that experimented with different materials and shapes that could interlock over the last 2 years.

Earlier this year Mr Ishaque actually managed to get some local support for the project and appeared in Toy news, the Nottingham Post and BBC Radio Nottingham as well as attempting to fund the project on Kickstarter, unfortunately this drive failed but undeterred his team continued to improve the Simbrix and tried again.
This new Kickstarter has not only succeeded but at the time of writing has hit 216% of its goal and still the Simbrix are been improved, the Kickstarter continues until the 11th of November 2015 so I recommend getting in and grabbing the Simbrix at a discount price early. I recommend reading the Kickstarter anyway as it contains a lot of history and background into this 2 year project and is quite interesting.

Now I've given you the background lets get into the juicy details of the bricks themselves.

The Simbrix are slightly larger that Hama beads, are considerably thicker and lock together in a similar way to a jigsaw but also they can be iron like Hama beads for a permanent connection.
These differences do mean that many completed projects will be larger in size than if they were made in Hama but they are far less brittle if ironed, this increase in size also means its easer for older people and those with large fingers to use them.

Simbrix figures on the left while Professor Layton is in Hama

The locking design is a great measure of improvement over Hama Beads in the fact that tweezers and pegboards are not require, the structures are robust enough that ironing is optional so kids can be left to play with them unattended (though their small size means they are not suitable for very young children who may swallow them).

The locking design has been improved since I last tried them, the Simbrixs I used seemed rather sturdy but they came apart easily if pressure was applied correctly, apparently some colours of that run has issues (I noticed the pink tended to slip and didn't hold well) but they have been solved and here is a glimpse of the improvements.

Apparently this new batch is the first time the entire colour pallet has held together so well and  has been put through a series of tests including the connection and disconnection of parts, a drop test, been thrown, been used as a frisbee and bending. In addition there are now glow in the dark Simbrix as well.

The astute amongst you may notice that that there are only 18 colours in the picture above and that is where Simbrix is currently lagging, Hama Beads are available in over 50 different colours meaning that you can get greater degrees of accuracy and shading however as Simbrix Develop I imagine their available pallet will expand in time.

Also bead for brix Simbrix are a more expensive initial purchase at the beginning however their re-usability and the lack of tools/supervision needed to use them means that in the long run (if you are not ironing them) they actually are cheaper. The Simbrix are also neutral in design giving more creative freedom whilst Hama Beads are often bought in box sets around a theme.

Simbrix and Hama Bead creations line the Toast Bar of the Nation Video Games Gallery

In short I rather like them, they seem like a natural evolution of Hama Beads, while if I wanted to do fine artwork I'd go for Hama beads I would definitely consider Simbrix as a more fun and cheaper option.
